Terms of Use

Indie Time is a music platform where every uploaded song lives on a visible countdown. By using Indie Time you agree to these terms.

Your music, your responsibility

You may only upload music you created or that you have the legal right to share. Uploading means you attest to that. If a rights holder tells us a song is theirs, we may remove it and, for repeat problems, the account that uploaded it.

The clock

Every song starts with the time shown at upload. A Like from another user adds 24 hours (one Like per user per song per day). A thumbs down removes 24 hours (one per user per song, ever). When a song's remaining time reaches zero it is permanently deleted from Indie Time — from charts, profiles, libraries and playlists. This is the core of the service and deletions by the clock are final.

Hall of Fame

A song whose lifetime Like count reaches the published benchmark enters the Hall of Fame: its timer stops and it remains available, including for download into playlists. Induction is permanent.

Hall of Fame earnings and payouts

Songs in the Hall of Fame earn a share of the revenue they generate: 50% of the revenue attributed to a song's counted plays (a play counts after 30 seconds of listening) is credited to the song's owner. Earnings from all of an artist's Hall of Fame songs combine into a single balance, calculated monthly. Revenue generated is what is shared — plays on their own create no earnings, and only plays after a song enters the Hall of Fame can earn. Settlement runs once a month for the month just closed, and a month in which IndieTime takes in no revenue produces no earnings for that month.

Earnings are paid out once your combined balance reaches $50. To be paid, you must connect a payout account. If your balance reaches $50 and you still have not connected a payout account 6 months later, the accrued balance is forfeited to IndieTime and starts again from zero. Balances under $50 never expire. Earnings credited after a forfeiture accrue fresh and start a new 6-month window the next time your balance reaches $50.

Accounts

New accounts must verify their email address before they can upload songs, subscribe to artists, or buy IndieTime+.

Conduct

No spam, no harassment, no uploading other people's work, no trying to game votes with fake accounts. We may remove content or accounts that break these rules.

IndieTime+ subscriptions

IndieTime+ is an optional paid subscription ($0.99/month or $9.99/year) that removes the advertisements played between songs. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time through the subscription management link in your account settings; cancelling stops future renewals and your Plus access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. Prices are in US dollars and may change with notice; a change never shortens a period you have already paid for.

The service

Indie Time is provided as-is. We may change features, benchmarks and time values as the platform grows; changes to the Hall of Fame benchmark never remove a song that has already been inducted.
